Macuchi
Macuchi, though only 22 miles from Apuha, is a different climate with different plants. The people here are mestizo, meaning mixed between Spanish and Indigenous heritage.

Climate
The climate is considered a cool tropical climate in the area around Macuchi. It is at about 5000-6000 feet in elevation. There are rainy and dry seasons. The temperature is 60-80 degrees year-round. The days are consistently 12 hours long as it is located about 100 miles south of the equator. Because it is a warmer and less harsh environment than Apauha, there are many trees and flowering plants.
Economy
The economy is agrarian. Cash crops are blackberries (mora) and sugar cane. Blackberries are delicate and damage easily, farmers are at the mercy of the middleman to buy their product before it spoils. Sugar cane is a year-round crop. The cane is cooked to produce granulated brown sugar, a hard brown sugar, or moonshine. Some people with land have cattle.
Resources
Job opportunities are very limited. Work as a day laborer pays $10-15/day, but work is extremely scarce. To find full-time work, people must leave for the city to find a job.
